Walmart Win!

Victory in Motion: Walmart Accessibility and Cart Issues Resolved 🎉

Over the past year, I had the opportunity to work alongside local Walmart store leadership and members of Brampton City Council to address two key issues affecting our community:

  • Abandoned Shopping Carts – Thanks to collaboration, a new bylaw is now in place to keep our neighborhoods cleaner and hold businesses accountable in a fair way.
  • North Entrance Closure at 9 PM – Residents had long been frustrated with Walmart shutting the north entrance, forcing everyone to use the south entrance. This change ignored the needs of seniors, people with disabilities, and expectant mothers. The store has now agreed to adjust access, making the entrance safer and more convenient for all.

I’m grateful for the collaboration and for everyone who helped push both of these issues across the finish line. Small changes. Real impact. 💚💙

Push for Change: Addressing Walmart Cart Challenges

Residents are fed up with ongoing issues of Walmart shutting the north entrance of the store at 9pm, forcing everyone to enter and exit on the south entrance. It ignores the plight of seniors, those with disabilities and expectant mothers.

Additionally we are plagued with abandoned Walmart shopping carts scattered throughout our neighborhood. Despite repeated concerns raised to Walmart, it has fallen on deaf ears and it is beginning to raise questions about the city’s ability to enforce its bylaws.

The City of Brampton has been unable to intervene and provide a lasting solution to this matter, which continues to negatively impact the safety, appearance, and overall quality of our neighborhoods. It’s now time for us to come together and advocate for a cleaner Brampton. Please see the letter below that was presented to Walmart and sign the petition to show your support.
